What Lies Between Us – Book Review

Blurb

Daughter can never forgive mother for what she did and she can never let her leave. The house that Maggie and Nina share holds plenty of secrets, secrets that are not buried in the past. Every other night, the two sit together for dinner. When they’ve finished, Nina helps Maggie back into the attic, into her heavy chains that keep her there. Maggie has done things to Nina that can never be forgiven, and now she is paying the price. There are so many things about the past that Nina has no idea about and Maggie plans on keeping it that way… Even if it kills her.

My Thoughts

This one took a while to get going and I found myself switching off at times so I didn’t get gripped as quick as I usually do. However, this is a 5 star read so it 100% made up for it once the lies and plot starting coming through, I just couldn’t put it down. I ended up reading it in 4 days. I had to know what was happening between these two women. The dynamic between them was bizarre, I loved it. I really needed to work out which one was the crazy one. Why is Maggie really locked up? I enjoyed reading the perspective of both Maggie and Nina, it helped me get through all my unanswered questions.

Author

John Marrs is a number 1 bestseller in Thrillers, he won Thriller Writers Best paperback in 2021. I take my hat off to him for having such an amazing creative mind. I could never come up with all these different plot twists myself. He is a very talented man. Its amazing how they all tie in together at the end.

Conclusion

During reading this book, I felt sorry for Maggie but I would love to hear others opinions after reading. My mind went back and forth so much it made me a little dizzy. In the end though, I was definitely on one side only, and that’s the SANE side.
