Thoughts

This one flicks between when Quinn and Graham first met outside that one apartment door, to the present day, showing us how they got to where they are now. I really enjoyed watching the couple’s development throughout the story, however I did feel like there wasn’t much substance to this book and it didn’t have me as hooked to the characters as I have done with the other Colleen books, which is why I’ve ranked it as number 7 here. I found both characters a little annoying at times. I did connect to the story line emotionally though, I can see how a lot of people would see Quinn as a cold-hearted wife, but I can feel her pain and she is clearly becoming emotionally closed off as the story gets on.

Colleen Hoover has recently become my favourite author, with all her big range of different genre books, her writing just has me gripped from beginning to end, and I usually read her books within a week or two. She is an International and #1 New York Times bestselling author of romance, YA, thriller, women’s fiction and paranormal romance.

Conclusion

Infertility is a big part of this story so if this is going to be triggering for you, I wouldn’t recommend this one. However, if you are looking for a story that really represents raw, real life issues then this is it. There is nothing romanticized about this book, it shows a real relationship with real marriage problems. Read how they overcome the issues they have, and see if they can truly survive what seems to be a broken marriage…
