Glass Houses – Book Review

5 stars

Part of The Morganville Vampires series, glass houses is book 1.

Blurb

Claire Panvers has had enough of her nightmare dorm situation, so when she heads off campus, the imposing old house she comes across to a rent a room in, may not actually be that much better.

Her new roommates don’t show her much love as she settles in, they don’t show much life at all really. However, when the towns deepest secrets come crawling out, they have her back. Will she be able to face the towns terrors, or drown like everyone else?

Thoughts

I am a sucker for a vampire story me! ha see what I did there…

There are plenty of psycho vampires in this one to keep you going if you thrive off it, with a touch of romance thrown in there, I did enjoy watching the relationship between Claire and Shane develop. None of the characters are unlikable so it makes it easy to read. Nothing worse than a character development you can’t stand, right? However, Claire does make some immature stupid decisions that left me screaming inside, like stop going outside alone, when it’s late and dark! However, if she did’nt of course there would be no story line would there! Just one of those.

Author

Rachel Caine, best known as the author of the popular Weather Warden series.

Rachel Caine was actually her pen name, her real name is Roxanne Longstreet Conrad, born April 27, 1962. She sadly passed away on November 1, 2020. She was an American writer of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense, and horror novels.

Conclusion

If you are after an action packed vampire / ghost story than this series is for you to get stuck into and it’s a big series so get comfy! It isn’t quite the vampire diaries level, but we all know those characters are hard ones to beat! The cliff hanger definitely had me wanting to read the next book though.
