Romance

November 9 – Book Review

And if there is any part of you that is capable of forgiving me, you know where I’ll be. Tonight, next year, the next, for eternity.”

Blurb

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day of her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallons last day in La together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Overtime and midst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Thoughts

This story flicks between Ben and Fallon so we get to hear from both points of views which I like, especially because they’re not actually together for long in this story. We also get to read a big chunk of Ben’s book towards the end which is so fun, reading how he’s perceived everything throughout the story we’ve just read. Many people may view Ben badly, however I didn’t feel alarmed or offended reading this one, I just felt he was a young guy finding his way.

Author

Colleen Hoover has recently become my faviourite author, with all her big range of different genre books, her writing just has me gripped from beginning to end, and I usually read her books within a week or two. She is an International and #1 New York Times bestselling author of romance, YA, thriller, women’s fiction and paranormal romance.

Colleen shows a lot of different styles of abuse in her stories, which a lot of readers may feel offended or disturbed by, however I just feel it’s a good representation of real life, unfortunately love isn’t always just beautiful and simple as we may hope.

Conclusion

I rated this one 3 stars because I felt like the story was lacking substance that the other Colleen books have, the plot is probably one of the most unrealistic ones I read in the sense that they only see each other once a year for a day, yet they are so passionate and intense. Personally, I don’t think a connection could grow that intense like that.

If you are an Ugly Love fan, you will notice the references to Miles and Tate which is fun, however I completely missed this because I hadn’t read that one yet when I was reading this one. I now want to go back and reread this one just to catch these two making their appearance.

I felt a little disappointed with the plot twist as I didn’t feel it was big or dramatic at all, I was expecting more.
