Ugly Love – Book Review

Hearts get infiltrated.

Promises get broken.

Rules get shattered.

Love gets ugly.

“Its beautiful moments like these that make up for the ugly love.”

Blurb

It’s not exactly love at first sight for Tate Collins when she meets the tormented and secretive Miles Archer. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is a mutual physical attraction that can’t be denied. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they might have stumbled on the perfect no strings attached arrangement. He isn’t looking for love, and she doesn’t have the time for it – so that leaves just the sex. What they’ve got could be surprisingly satisfying, as long as Tate can stick to the two rules Miles has for her: never ask about the past; don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but everything is different when real emotions start to change the equation.

My Thoughts

The story line in this one is so relatable to this day and age it almost hurts. I’ve had my fair share of Miles in my time and all are aware of how these ‘no strings attached’ situations never end well. The author does a great job at showing the reality of this type of situation with young adults and how complicated it can get.

So this book is one of the peoples faviourite however I couldn’t get into it as much as the others! It has taken me the longest to read which says a lot, as when I am completely hooked into a book I read it within days. Most of colleen’s books have done that for me, except this one which has disappointed me because I was expecting big things with this one.

I didn’t love the switch back to the past with Miles and Rachel, I felt like the style of writing was natural and it made Miles seems cringe and cheesy, which is just not him in the present time.

Author

She is published by Atria Books, Grand Central Publishing, Mont lake Romance, and HarperCollins Publishers.

In 2015, her novel CONFESS won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance. That was followed up in 2016 with her latest title, It Ends With Us, also winning the Choice Award for Best Romance. In 2017, her title WITHOUT MERIT won best romance.

Conclusion

I am very happy with how the ending turned out for Miles and Tate, however I felt such a disconnect with these characters so it wasn’t has powerful as I would have hoped. I was let down by this book because I was expecting big things with how many great reviews I had read. I think if I went into this one with no expectations or hype around it I might have enjoyed it a bit more. However, I do feel like it’s the more overrated Colleen book.
