Book Review For Love and Skate
On the rink she’s tough, she’s a leader, she’s fast and she’s a rebel. Nellie’s been hurt, only once, but it was enough to make her look at life through different eyes, and of the rink, she’s a timid girl who loves with no pretenses.
A long time ago, Owen Black was betrayed by the girl he thought he loved and the guy he called his best friend! The anguish set off a domino effect of negativity in his life and never fully recovered. When he meets Nellie he thinks he can let it go for her.
But how can you love someone when the wounds of your past are still wide open?
I gave this 3 stars
This book has depth, soul, meaning, and characters who are real and believable. There’s no sticky love triangle in this one, just your realistic trust issues and everyday real problems that come with opening up your heart to someone. Lots and lots of swooning at the heartfelt love.
Why I Enjoyed This Read
I enjoyed the small skateboarding parts, it’s something different. I also enjoyed watching the pair get to know each other and learn each other insecurities and past issues.
Who Would Enjoy This Read
if you are looking for a clean, wholesome, young adult read, pick this one up, you won’t regret it. its something different to your usual young adult love story plots I think.
Don’t judge this book by the cover because it really doesn’t give you much, there’s plenty of depth to this story. Nellie is a kick-ass main character to read about.
